Brilliant idea by SHOwtime to get their big season preems virally circulating. I have become a lover of both of these shows having only seen a season of each. One's about acting and murder, one's about sex and writing. Oh, the things that interest me...

MLB Report: GOAT of the WEEK
Jamie Walker came into a 5-3 game ahead, his Bodymore, Murdaland team already eliminated from the playoffs, facing the division toppers from Tampa. New England native Rocco Baldelli singled. Passed ball. Walks Gabe Gross. GIves up hit to Jason Bartlett, 5-4 O's. Single by Navarro, the hottest bat in the bay, 6-5 Rays. Walker comes out of the game without even getting a fucking out. And all this after his team had already lost a game to Tampa not 4 hours before this one.
Game 1: RAYS
Game 2: RAYS
Standings as of 9.23.08
RAYS ---
RED SOX 3.0
orioles 28.o
The magic number is two, and the Tampa Bay Rays get to play one more at Camden Tards. Yards, sorry!
FUCKING GOAT! ~Adam Sandler, Film Actor

"A city rotting from within" - Matt Roush
The Star
Dominic West as Det. Jimmy McNulty:Some of the best TV acting you've ever seen, and yet the only recognition he'll get is in the form of paychecks. I've got a call into George Freeman now to ask how much the dude got paid, but they've only repped him for a few months. I got no UK contacts to probe, a lot of good I am.

"ambition and anger"
Best Side Characters:
Boadie - loyal hoodrat/hopper with pride for his corner
Stringer Bell - the bad man no one can trust
D('Angelo) - The gangster who almost turned it around.
OMAR - The toughest gay gangbanger you done ever seen.
Kima - The toughest lesbian cop you done ever got frisked by.
The Bunk - One mofo who takes his job in Homicide serious as shit. Unless he's hammered.
Season 1 introduced the cops and the dealers, and made you realize how many murders can go unsolved in a city desperate for a buck.
Season 2 showed the union perspective, the commerce at the Baltimore docks, and the sources the local criminals turn to for the BIG drug shipments. (Palestinian Greeks?)
Season 3 unveiled the local school systems, how they let down the children they claim to care about and do everything for (though some get to them too late to be fixed).
Season 4 revealed the political system of Baltimore, the politicians, cops, congressmen, and spinsters that pick which issues they say they want fight for, then abandon their constituents when the Capitol won't throw them a bone.
Season 5...well...you can see it for yourself.

not global Series
Sorry poon worshippers and jokey McJokesters...I want to talk sports for a second.
I, like many, am just coming down from being baffled about the Tampa Bay (devil) Rays' run of success in "arguably the hardest divisiion in baseball" (which, dontcha know, includes Boston's playoff bound defending World Champs). But today I stop hating them (except during games...) and start praising the bunch of no names (you hearda Kazmir?) that are potentially going to be facing the Red Sox in the American League Championship Series that will be as intense as the last few years of Bronx loathing.
The Rays have already taken the season series after playing September/Rivalry baseball like
seasoned pros (I guess something like the 04 Red Sox or Ty Cobb's 1915 Tigers, the year he stole 96 mofo'n bases! That prick.
Note: The final game played at the orginal Yankee Stadium was today. Hasn't happened yet though. Later I'll be watching Lowe. Throwing strikes miles up the 1 1 0. Los Angeles, bro. Different story...

Choke
Why I'm excited about this film: Rockwell, Palahniuk, indie, irreverent sex
Why I'm not: Tackles topics concentric to CIVILWARLAND, the George Saunders novella-turned-shelved-screenplay, as well as a nymphomaniac protagonist, a la STDemons.
Sam Rockwell Top Performances:
3) probably Choke
2) Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
1) The Green Mile

in Re-vu
I wanted to see BURN AFTER READING this weekend but didn't realize it was out until this morning.
I went to the coolest bar I've been to yet in L.A.
Sox win 3. Pats win (a big) 1.
I watched about an hour of Casino Royale (finally) but fell asleep.
I was quasi-forced to watch America's Next Top Model for the first time. It was a hoot.
I drank mamosas and got some sun atop a downtown high-rise.
I got hooked on MAD MEN. The key is to watch it after a long nap and a long bong rip.
I realized I overhyped TRUE BLOOD, but have not watched the 2nd episode of it. Still bad?
I did it all for the nookie.
